Learning the guitar is more than just learning to strum basic chord shapes (and no, not everything is on YouTube).
It doesn’t take natural talent, giant hands, or the most expensive guitar to play either….
All it takes is a passion for music, and to show up for the work.
Now what does the “work” entail?
Well I find it fun but here’s some of it, which I teach in my “Play It Loud Method”:
Starting with basic finger movements and picking techniques. Too many instructors try to have you going all across the neck on your first day. Bad idea!
Instead of trying to contort your hand to play a chord you’ve never attempted before….it’s important to work your way up to that…..with basic chord shapes I’ll teach you. You can still play tons of songs with these too!
I focus on building muscle memory and learning songs, instead of doing lots of exercises.
I also believe it’s necessary to develop your ear and learn how to interpret a guitar tab correctly. This is another dreadfully ignored part of guitar learning.
And most importantly…..I’ll help guide you towards what to learn now and what to put off until later. This is the big reason why many beginners get lost on YouTube or feel they wasted their money on Fenderplay of other app sites…..
